engine shuts off when car is in gear

so i got a flat on my 2013 nissan altima 2.5 sv this morning put my donut on
and started heading into work i make it a few blocks stop at a light and my car
shuts off starts right up when its in park but when i shift into gear car cuts off
now when i put the car into drive the engine pulls down ward

Hi, Did you take the car into the dealer recently? I have the same year and 2.5 like your vehicle. My experience was that after taking the car in to the dealer for a recall, the car started shutting off when we put it in drive or reverse. This happened at exactly 60,000 miles. Question: Did you ever get complete flush of transmission oil, including the filter at the front of the transmission?

When I turn my 2009 nissan altima & put it in reverse it stalls. Smells like gas

I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2013 ALTIMA... WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE OR REVERSE THE CAR SHUTS OFF... THE DEALER HAS MY CAR NOW.. SAID IT IS THE TRANSMISSION... 3500$

You exactly just said my story , I had the same exact story when I was going to uni today morning . 2014 Altima , 98000 kms only . Can’t believe that really, thought Nissan knows how to produce cars

YEP MY 2014 Nissan Altima starts but dies once in gear. 65,000 miles this is BS!!

2013 Altima 2.5 123,000 miles - for a couple weeks it randomly shut off while in drive only while stopped at idle. The engine started right back up in Park or Neutral. This happened in a drive through and at a busy intersection (embarrassing). Other times it would just shudder when not moving at idle in drive. I found my positive battery terminal very corroded and much of the original metal (copper) gone. Not lead like the old ones. Enough metal was gone where I could not tighten it down enough to get a good grip on the post. After replacing - I have not had one instance of shudder or stalling at idle. I know, I know... why would it still crank with such a poor connection?? All I can think is that the additional amperage from starting somehow created connectivity but when idling at low RPM in gear, the voltage dropped and somehow triggered a problem with a signal going to the electronic/computer transmission control "thingy". I'm not an expert, but my suggestion will cost next to nothing and it seems to have solved my problem and with 123,000 miles on the car - it's back to driving like new and my fingers are crossed it was that simple. I wonder how many dealers may have figured this out after replacing and charging for a new transmission. If they replaced your transmission, check to see if you also got a new battery terminal...lol... For what it's worth... My 2 cents. May not work for you, but I'm kinda sold and will report back if I find out I'm wrong later.

For many years now Nissan has built cars with defective transmissions, they have tried bandages of all sorts including reflashes, coolers, installing new transmissions, Maybe its time to actually fix the problem Nissan, stop selling your garbage and taking peoples money! build a product that isnt defective. You should have to warranty the transmissions for life if you are going to sell vehicles with defects
