Started the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe remotely this am and the car took off up the driveway and smashed into the house. The car was accidentally left in drive. Should a car start in drive?

If this is an aftermarket system it it is very likely the installer failed to install it correctly. All factory installed remote start systems tie into the park switch and do not allow the vehicle to start in drive

no...it has a switch, regardless of any altercations will not start in drive...with some magic, an electrician may put a "jumper" on the harness, but that is not correct...fooot on the brake shove it into park and start the engine~
