Why would car wheel lock up and engine shut off while driving?

We are currently waiting to hear back from the dealership who may not get back to us until tomorrow. The car has 59,000 miles on it. The steering wheel locked up while driving, the car made a clicking sound, then the engine shut off. I was only able to drive it 10 miles an hour on eco mode to pull over. We have the oil changed regularly and all fluids "topped off". Any idea what could have caused this?  Thanks

Your car was probably in limp mode meaning it had a very serious problem. Without knowing what engine codes were set I could only guess.
