Dodge Dakota truck won't start

Asked by Sep 27, 2016 at 10:18 PM about the 2001 Dodge Dakota 2 Dr SLT Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck will not start. Everything comes on
but it just won't turn over. I tried to tap on
the starter but that didn't work. Checked all
wires. It just does nothing when I turn it
over. No click or anything. Just silence.
Please help!!!

Sounds like starter solenoid

My 1994 Dakota did that even after putting in a new starter. I found that taking my cables off my terminals and cleaning wires and all helped me but that's my truck, it could be your starter going bad tho also

Have you checked your connections like 666 has said. I assumed you checked your wiring for breaks could even be disconnected. Your starter gear could be jammed into the starter gear. Hard to say without being there. You could drop the starter and try to turn starter over to see if starter is operational

Sorry I meant starter gear jamming on the pinion gear on the motor but you'll know that when you drop the starter. I keep getting the blue answer bar across my screen
