Have a 2013 ford escape that started to have a growling sound coming from rear

Sounds like you could have a wheel bearing going bad or something in the differential starting to go bad. I would recommend getting it to a local shop or dealer to get looked at before something more serious begins to happen.

2013 would still be under warranty unless it has lots of miles on it. Take it to the dealer.
