2013 Fors Escape SE won’t start, shuts completely down while driving

Asked by HelpMeFord Jun 23, 2018 at 07:27 AM about the 2013 Ford Escape SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car literally shut off while I was idling under 5
minutes, waited 2 hours for Teiple A then it
magically atarted again on its own. Turned it off and
on 3 times then cancelled Triple A call. Deove 5
minutes away to Auto zone so they could check my
battery and the doors would not unlock when we
tried getting back into the car to open the hood.
Thank goodness a window was down and we were
able to reach in and pull the handle and get the
hood up. Checked battery which was fine but atill
no power. Called Triple A again, waited 30 minutes
and car once again powers up magically. Drove it
home and woke up again to it not working. Took it
to local me hanic who was licked out of it for hours
then could not figure out the problem. Please help!

my 2013 Escape SEL just did the same thing. No power, nothing. couldn't lock or lock. Zero response, no dash. Getting a bull$hit answer from Ford about a E-Vap valve and bad battery problem, but I had it in to Ford for an oil change and multipoint inspection the day before it died. Paperwork indicates the battery was fine. They are now trying to screw me for $1,100 for the E-vap valve and a new battery... $1,000. way out of line. I will let you know when I find out more. I don't even think their answer to the problem will work, they are guessing and will try and charge me even more when what they did doesn't work.

I have a 2013 Ford Escape SE 1.6L doing the same thing. It won't even let me try and start it. I was told to purchase the Vent Control Solenoid. And that I can replace it pretty easily, as its located in front of the driver's side rear tire. Has anyone had any experience with this repair? Can anyone give me any advice?

I had a very similar thing happen, anytime I drove my escape and turned it off for about 30 min it wouldn’t start back up (always happened when grocery shopping) took it into Ford, I had an insurance plug in and they said that was draining my battery. The problem happened again that night when I got my car home. Took it back to ford and they replaced my battery after saying it was fine the last time I was in. Problem happened again the next day, took it into ford again. They had it for over two weeks and where able to replicate the problem, found it was the F4 Master dude. This fixed the problem... for about a 1 1/2 years, now I am having the exact same problems again.
