97 740il will not start. Bought new battery still no start. Not even with a jump. Please help

Check to see if there is 12 VDC on the small wire at the starter when the key is in the "Start" position. If voltage is there, suspect a bad starter. Have it tested.

I'm with tenspeed on this one. Sounds like a bad starter lead.

Thank you both. If I was to take it in to a shop what should I be OK with paying for each of these problems?

While trying to start the car bang on the starter and see if the vehicle then starts then you know the brushes in the starter are bad and will need a new starter. You will need a friend for this test of course.

Just had this happen to my 740i 2001...it is the ignition. ....you can order the part and put it in your self...go to youtube....it gives a step by step on how to replace. All of my electronics were working. ..had a new battery. ..
