How old should a car be before it needs a new transmission

Asked by dgregg12 Feb 04, 2014 at 06:23 PM about the 2012 Nissan Versa 1.6 SV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought my 2012 Nissan Versa in Sept  10,  2011,about a week or so later around the 30th of Sept I took it back because the A/C did not work and the car hesitated when driving. I took it back three more times since then with the same problem, now the drive belt is cracking. I took it to Pepboys and they said I need a new transmission (transmission is not shifting properly). Nissan says it's not under warrenty so they will not repair it. Car has 67,000 miles now but much less when I took it back the four times.

It depends on the driver the mileage and how hard the car has been ran.

My 2012 SL Versa has 71k the only time I had an issue was once when I hit the brakes hard and then immediately accelerated quickly. It acted like a car with a blown head gasket and the engine light came on. After my own research I found this action puts the vehicle into limp mode. And can be reset by manualy clearing the code. The first time it happened I took it to the dealership to have the trans. checked. It happened again a few weeks later and I just pulled over and reset the computer. Been fine ever since. No issues ever and I have driven it from Seattle to Indy, Indy to Seattle back to Indy. I do roadside assistance and ride share with it.
