Help! Used car purchased and everything is rigged....

Asked by Mariaax50 Apr 15, 2019 at 11:57 AM about the 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car was driving smooth until yesterday. I was
driving on freeway and car started jerking.  Was
giving it gas but wasn't accelerating. So as I was
trying to get back home noticed once the RPM hits
2 it jerks. Took to autozone for code scanner and it
showed 3 codes, camshaft sensor, crankshaft
sensor and variable valve timing actuator. I
changed the 1st 2 but what's the 3rd can't find
anything on it? Has someone else experienced
this,  can anyone guide me in the right direction
please! At this point I'm just wasting money
throwing parts in vehicle.....

YT has lots of how to's on VVT solenoid or actuator replacements. It can be a DIY job, the parts are a little expensive ($200+ range) but labor costs are relatively low if you take it to a shop. A shop might also be able to test the solenoids to check they are actually at fault, so there is that option as well.
