I've had a few Ford Escapes and never had that problem. Probably a bunch of salt from the road got struck up there.

actually there's alot in the canadian world to the point where the shock towers were causing BANGING noises because there was no upper tower left

It's got to be the salt. Sad to say but I seriously doubt that Ford will do anything for you.

l agree (and fixed my own ) but just having this problem go away from 95 till now pisses one off as to there main motiveis SELL THE CAR DRIVEOFF THE LOT SEEYA THX FOR FEED BACK GUYS

Happened to my Tribute, if you check the Escape forums, it's a common issue on the rear passenger side, the undercoating cracks and water gets underneath and rusts a hole into the body. You don't find it till it's too late. Specially in the salt belt of the US. No recall. The rest of the SUV is rusting as well, I'll drive it for as long as I can.

I would like to know if fore has yet to take responsibiltiy for this dangerous problem or does someone have to die first from losing control of their vehicle.
