The past 3 mornings I have gotten in my car and my power steering has not worked. In the afternoon and evening, however it worked just fine. Has anyone else been having this problem?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The light with the steering wheel and
an exclamation point comes on and
it is very difficult to steer. I don't think
it's temperature related because last
night it was 10 degrees colder than
the morning and the power steering
worked just fine.

It should be one of the pulleys of the serpentine belt. I suppose there could be a magic system that doesn't work this way, but I am not aware of it.

It's electric power steering so no fluid. I have the same problem and haven't figured it out yet. Fuses look fine...

Hi everyone, i had the same proble. Found the problem! There are 5 wires which go to the steering module on the steering column under dash. 2 are bigger. One red, one black. Power and negative. See if you have power and ground when turning the ignition on. If yes, there are 3 other smaller wires. Two which go from the column all the way to the transmission connection at transmission. Check your continuity to see if there is no break in wires. It' pretty easy access. Light blue and white wrapped around eachother. These are can bus communication wires. Finally, there is a pesky little white and light blue wire which runs along the driver's side kick panel where the carpet meets it. This was my culprit. The tape around it was greenish so i knew something was up. Opened the tape and immediately saw the wire was corroded and no longer made contact. Good luck and save yourself a big bill for nothing. Most places would probably want to change your entire steering column with integrated module.
