2012 Impala with 60,000 miles. Do I need a fuel system clean and transmission service?
Upon taking my 2012 Impala in for a regular maintenance oil change (every 3,000 miles) I was told that I need to have my fuel system cleaned (recommend every 30,000) and my transmission serviced (every 50,000 miles). My vehicles has 60,000 miles. The dealership will charge $130 for the fuel system clean and $150 for the transmission service. I am a senior citizen on a limited income and want to make sure I need these services. I purchased the car used with 52,000 miles.
I'd have the trans serviced but forget the fuel system cleaning. Use any top tier fuel and you will be fine.
Tom is spot on. Go here: http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers/
The gasoline sold at non- top tier does not have the proper detergents your car needs
take it to any good transmission shop and have a check/service/inspection done...$19.00-49.00... ask if can/will change the fuel filter....
