Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2012 impala is showing the engine light on, service stabilitrak, and
service traction control. Originally when all this started happened they all
came on and my engine was sputtering like it was losing power and going to
die. I went to have it plugged in right away but the lights went off as soon as i
pulled into the parking lot. We talked to a mechanic and he thought it was the
throttle body. We cleaned it and i was able to make it back home (35 miles
away) without any issues. It has stayed parked and a couple weeks have
gone by and i replaced the throttle body. It ran good as new but when i got
about a 1/4 mile from the house all of those lights and service warnings
came on. Now my car is sputtering again and acts like it is going to die. I
went to have it plugged in to read the codes and it wouldnt even read
anything. All warnings and lights were on when they attempted to read the
codes.

Lol that mechanic should of known better.. a dirty throttle body is not going to trigger the stabilitrak and traction control and make your car almost die this is going to be something affecting the data network more than likely esp given its intermitent nature. It can range from can wires rubbing ground or a module crappong out

The rpm's jump from 500 to 900 and continually jump up and down. I dont recall any other gauges dropping out though.

Of u can get the car to act up again and all the lights to come on see of certain things are still functional like door locks any of your ac/heater controls

I think it was a no communication issue. I am pretty sure everything works. I do know doors locked, windows rolled up and down, radio, ac was working, wipers were working yesterday.

With all the symptoms and no communication its possible the CAN data network is being affected.. multiple ways it can be affected. So just something to consider.. if you have a volt meter and you can get the car to act up you can check voltages on pins 6 and 14 of the dlc and the both should show around 2.5 volts with the key on.. 0 or battery voltage is going to be a problem
