Temp gauge problem

Asked by GuruXXH42 Oct 17, 2018 at 10:52 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Malibu LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got my water pump and
thermostat changed by mechanic.
Everything seems to run fine and after
driving for a good while the temp
gauge does not go above 1/2 mark.
I’ve also checked after driving if the
fans were kicked on to prevent
overheat and they don’t. My concern
though is the temp gauge when fully
cooled (even sitting over night) starts
at the 1/4 mark? Any ideas on what
could be the problem. I do plan on
asking the mechanic that worked on
it as well later.
