How can I fix my key situation?

Question type: General

Yesterday I thought I had lost my car keys so I had the locksmith come and
he made me new keys on the spot.  I am not a car person so I took the
cheapest option which was just a plain key with no remote or anything.  He
also said that he had to make two keys for it to work.  So after all that and
$400 later, today I find my keys :(  Now the old key will turn the elctric on in
the car but the remote will not unlock and the old key will not start the car
either.  My question is: 1- can I make both the old and new keys work, I
would love to have a spare or 2- Can I just get the old key to work or 3-  Can
I get a fob off amazon that I can program to my car that I can just add on my
keychain?  Thank you for any assistance!

The good news is you found a reputable locksmith! Since you thought your keys were lost he removed them from the vehicle's memory so your vehicle couldn't be stolen with the old keys. You need two working keys to program additional keys yourself on a Ford Product, which you now have. You should be able to get programming instructions from your local Ford Dealer. You can also get fobs from Amazon or Ebay and program them yourself. Make sure you buy fobs that come with programming instructions. The instructions for the fobs are different from the instructions for the keys. I believe up to 10 keys and 2 fobs can be programmed to the vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim
