Traverse

Asked by Jul 12, 2016 at 10:31 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Traverse LS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife's 2012 traverse check engine light came on
going down the highway then moments later killed
the engine and now won't start has power to
everything but when you turn the key to crank the
motor it kills everything until you let off I like in a
small town and no local shops will touch it and it's
350 to have it towed to the closest Chevy dealer
just wondering if you have any idea was hoping it
could be an easy fix thanks in advance

Sounds like a low voltage problem, is the battery fully charged? If you believe that it is low do not remove it, you may cause more problems loosing presets, once the battery is fully charged then you can check the codes in memory and see where that takes you. You might be better off getting it towed as I believe that you may have more than just one problem. Really odd no one wants to work on it. Maybe all the shops there are still old school and don't have the electronics to diagnosis the newer ones.

No that battery is fully charged it was one of the first things I checked
