2005 Mustang GT Shifting Issues

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello everyone! I have a 2005 Mustang GT with around
125K Miles on the Trans/Engine and I am having problems
shifting from 2nd-3rd geat. First of all, I have replaced the
Engine Oil, spark plugs, fuel injectors, fuel filter, fuel pump,
air filter, transmission filter and fluid (around 5 quarts in
pan) once. So, when shifting through any of the gears, it
had a slight delay before engaging into place. Reverse and
drive both work. When driving from 1st-2nd gear, it shifts
quite "smooth" with no hesitation, but when speeding up in.
2nd gear-3rd, it seems that it won't shift on time and I
usually have to get it to around 28 MPH at around 3,400
RPMS and I have to let go off the gas around that
speed/RPMs for it to shift. The strange thing is that after
3rd gear, it goes through 4th and 5th quite fine. After driving
past 3rd gear and getting up to speed, the Check Engine
Light would start blinking on/off. Also, SOMETIMES the
O/D light would also Blink "OFF." There is also no check
engine light for any Transmission Codes whatsoever. I
would really appreciate some type of help as there isn't
much Service People for Transmissions in my town. Thank
you!

The O/D light blinking indicates a transmission issue or code would be stored in the system. Something isn't right with your transmission. Maybe a solenoid? Since you don't have a dedicated transmission shop in your area, have a decent ASE certified mechanic look it over or your Ford Dealer.

Okay yeah well the O/D light hasn't been flashing since last week, it's something that happens quite rarely but it is something that has come up. I'm really hoping a Shift Solenoid pack would be the culprit as there are no type of codes being set off, shifts through all the gears quite fine and ONLY have this problem from 2nd-3rd gear. I just ordered a Solenoid Pack and Speed Sensor for the trans as of today.

i just had the solenoid put in the 2005 mustang gt at 108,400 miles. yesterday if shifted hard once but then seemed fine. today (3rd time driving it) it started slipping and not wanting to go into gear. hoping to get it back to the mechanic again and hoping they can find out what it really is since the solenoid replacement did not work. will keep you posted
