Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Vehicle in for third time with the same problem.
Repair staff said the transmission just needed to
be tweeked. This make and model has tons of
transmission recalls. That was the first visit and
they kept it 5 days. Second time they said they
couldn’t get it to repeat the problem which is...
after coming to a stop it doesn’t engage into drive
gear, the car stays running but it will not move. I
push the gas and it doesn’t go. The dash above
the steering wheel shows im not in any gear. Only
once, the first time check engine light came on.
The code was for the transmition. This is an
intermittent problem. They kept it one day.
I have now been in the middle of busy
intersections unable to move. I have learned to
shut off the car and restart it once or twice to get it
to reset. The third time which is current ; it
disengaged 5 times in 5 miles of heavy bumper to
bumper traffic. Then it was fine for 15 miles to the
dealership?? The transmission light went on the
first time this happened but it just needed
tweeking? My car is unsafe and i am in danger of
being injured..., my dealership said they cant do
anything because there is no code that triggers!!
WTH? Does any mechanic know how to work on a
car without codes? HELP

It turned out to be the TCM needed to be replaced. My dealership had to be pushed to change the part even though it was on recall. They didnt want to do it because it didn’t through out a repair code. My car is running fine now. Im glad I pushed the issue to make them change it.
