Manual Transmission Fluid 2012 Ford Focus SE

Asked by rchasexji May 21, 2020 at 01:59 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus SE Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Ford Focus SE with a Manual Transmission. The manual says to
use Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid. Ford Part number
BOT350-M3. Ford Specification WSS-M2C200-D2. The dealer is telling me to
use Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid (which is for the Automatic
Transmission for this car). Ford Part number XT-11-QDC. I'm stumped.

I have the same vehicle year I use the Motorcraft synthetic 5W-20 oil. And Motorcraft filter (FL 910 S). I change the oil every 5000 miles and it uses about half a quart at the most I have 166,000 miles on it. Best price on both is Walmart.

Yup, DCT fluid is the manual transmission fluid for 2012 and newer Foci. I just did mine, and there wasn't much difference in tranmission feel after changing, indicating how well the old fluid was functioning even after 150k miles! that's is just incredible! Manual says 1.9 qts.

Owner's manual clearly shows a different transmission oil than the automatic. Dealer told me the same thing. They wanted to sell me the xt11 dct fluid. The manual specifically says NOT to use that for a MANUAL. Look at the screenshot i uploaded.
