Buying a corolla that has been sitting for a while?

Asked by Mohammad Mar 18, 2020 at 10:12 AM about the 2011 Toyota Corolla LE

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

Hello I am looking at a 2011 toyota corolla that has been up for sale for over a
year now. Should I ignore it or should I try to negotiate a lower price? The
dealer is asking $5600 for it. Overall the car looks fine except the battery
which needs charging but they said they will replace it if purchased.

It really depends on the condition and mileage. Has it been sitting because they're asking too much? If so then they most likely would be willing to negotiate.

(IMO) Tell the dealer you're interested, but you want to be able to test drive the car and either have it checked by a mechanic. Do not act excited about the car. Act as though you're nervous about buying it, which may be true anyway. As far as it's sitting for a year, that's not really a problem, as my RV often sits for 6 months or more between uses.
