Radiator Fan

Asked by Joanne May 25, 2018 at 10:03 AM about the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 Chevy Cruze radiator fan kicks on about every 20 seconds on high
speed sounding like a jet taking off running for about 5 seconds then kicks off
and repeats nonstop.  Car is not getting hot or overheating and no lights are on.
No codes come up when hooked to a computer.  Have already had thermostat
housing and thermostat replaced.  Any help on what this could be?

"With the A/C on, the cooling fan will run at high speed for about 4-6 seconds and repeat this operation to maintain coolant at required temperature. It has been found that the thermostat sensor can fail after 20,000 miles, leading to this condition as well. Technician must perform inspection of system per factory specifications before conducting repairs." I copied information from my GM Shop Service Manual, Revised August 2012. Does this happens when the a/c is on or all the time? Since you have already replaced the thermostat and housing, it is either normal when running the a/c or you may want to look into the sensor next. If a mechanic did the job, I would consult him first.
