check engine light

Asked by RSJ14 Jan 07, 2019 at 11:25 AM about the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When towing a trailer and stopping for gas, the check engine light comes on.  This has happened 4 times now--dealer says its a low oil pressure sensor and changes it.  Why does it continue to happen ?
Could I simply be burning oil when under a load ?
If I make sure oil level is OK, how can I get the check engine light to go off ?

Unhooking negative battery cable for 10 minutes and hooking it back up would clear out your check engine light, but the problem has to be fixed first, could just be low oil level, good time to change your oil
