1990 Cadillac electric short circuit

I was driving down the road with the air
conditioning on and all of a sudden
everything electrical turns off. Car still
drives. Everything mechanical work. The
electric speedometer, gas gauge, etc. isn't
working. Took it to a mechanic and he said
all the fuses are good. What's wrong?
