2011 Subaru forester
My 2011 foresters check engine light keeps
coming on and going off. It will
go off and not come back on until setting
somewhere letting it idle. I have had
it to Subaru and 2 different repairs shops
and they say it is a generic code.
Have changed mass air flow and gas cap so
far.
What is the code?
P0101
Dealership Replaced mass air flow.
Assure that MAF sensor plug is clean and secure.
Yes it is I cleaned it and checked it after the light came back on when we got it back from the dealership. It will go off for days to weeks at a time then if setting somewhere letting it idle the light come right back on.
Ok. Then look for a crack in or loose clamp on the intake tube. Something's messing with the intake air....

If your intake plenum has an anti-resonance attachment look for cracking there too, but the most common sources of air leaks are a loose clamp or split on the pleated flexible neck.
I could not find anything loose or any cracks
Remove clamps and check that plastic manifold ends are not pinched under the clamps into a dented circle shape. Gotta be a leak somewhere....
Do you think this could be the problem. I checked everything and found nothing crimped.

Duh...yes!! ANY intake leak after the MAP destroys the integrity of the MAP sensor upstream. Use duct tape temporarily, but get that replkaced. Cheers. Ern TSG/B
