Can there be another reason AC not working after new condenser installed?

Asked by toohottoddrive Sep 29, 2023 at 12:35 AM about the 2011 Cadillac SRX Performance FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2011 SRX was serviced for A/C blowing hot air.  I paid $1,100 for a new
condenser only the have the AC still not work.  The garage said there was a
series of vents in the AC system that must be misaligned and they would need
to go into the AC system again (at the cost of 1,000 plus) to fix this problem.  I
called BS on this as the system was working fine before the air went from cold
to hot...blowing fine.  The garage will not refund any of my money or fix the vent
system they are talking about unless I pay additional 1,000 plus.  Does this
sound normal or correct in any way?

It sounds normal in a world where people don't G.A.F. , which is what we have . . Find another mechanic

They just want more money from you. I dose sound right that the A/C system needs a reset but they should have done that when they unit was reassembled. My Cadillac had a glitch that would require an A/C reset at every summer, never could find out why it was just a quirk that it had.

Sounds like they don't know what they're doing. GM has been plagued with electrical problems for decades. If the compressor is running and the accumulator is cold it's a temperature control problem. You need to have it looked at by someone who has the equipment to properly diagnose the automatic climate control system. The other problem is this stuff is controlled by the BCM and other modules that you need the proper equipment to plug into and properly diagnose. I'm sure you don't want to hear this but your local Chevrolet Dealer is probably your best bet. Your Escalade is a rebadaged Suburban and the Chevy Dealer will be less snooty about working on it. With it being 13 years old the Cadillac Dealer probably won't go near it. Jim
