What makes the wheel tough to turn?? Which do I replace first?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a mechanic check my car. They said
the ECM and rack and pinion need to be
replaced. Also the shift nees to be replaced
whatever that is.

there is no way all of those needs replacement, what does the diagnostic codes review? then we take it from there

Your vehicle has electronic steering. And this operates from the steering wheel angle sensor. If this sensor is defective, it can cause the problem you describe. First have a look at that before the ecm.

Certain circuits like the ABS module (AdvanceTrac®) and the electric power assist steering are more sensitive to voltage drops than others. I've seen the AdvanceTrac warning in the past with low batteries. The radio can probably function with lower voltages (it's probably voltage stabilized), so it still works. Modern electronic systems can be sensitive to things like voltage and may not behave as you would always expect. When you test your battery, make sure the terminals are also clean and tight. If the battery is good and you're still getting error messages, you might check the fuses next.

Looking to get my 2010 fusion fixed up now on my dash it says automatic systematic and my wheel is hard to turn. I know a lot of places try to run women dry out there money but I'm trying to learn is there anything i should know
