Tick! Tick! Serpentine Belt

Asked by Aug 18, 2016 at 03:48 AM about the 2000 BMW 5 Series 528i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My serpentine belt was going bad and since I
changed it it's been making an annoying loud
ticking sound. I checked to see if anything was
jammed in it but it's completely clear of debris

might be one of the pulleys. Remove the belt again and spin the pulleys, one at a time by hand. See if one spins freely and or is stuck and makes noise.

Always change all idlers and the tensioner when servicing a serpentine belt @ 80,000 miles.

I'll bet Tom is right, usually it is the tensioner. Serpentine belts will generally last for 100,000+ miles if all the pulleys are in good condition.

Oh damn I forgot about that thanks you all
