Misfire in the #8 cylinder

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a misfire in the #8 cylinder. I changed the sparkplugs and the ignition coil and I
still
have the misfire. I checked the compression in the cylinder and it is up to par.
Checked to
ensure that there is 12v going to the injector that's fine. I also have a code for the
catalytic
converter. Two questions: Could the catalytic converter cause the misfire and if not,
what
next?

No, but the catalytic converter probably failed because of the misfire. When an engine misfires raw fuel is dumped into the exhaust system. The raw fuel gets burned up in the hot catalytic converter and ruins the catalyst. Since everything on #8 checks out you most likely have a bad fuel injector on cylinder #8. It's most likely not spraying fuel. No fuel = misfire. HTH. -Jim
