How is P0106 code connected to the stability control on a 2010 silverado

Asked by Guru69L52 Mar 10, 2020 at 09:24 AM about the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 Silverado was shifting hard at lower RPM. Did research and
decided to replace MAS Air Flow sensor. Now when I have the stability
control engaged the code will come up, however when I turn off the stability
control I can drive without P0106 code coming up.
Can anyone explain the correlation between the air sensor and stability
control function and what the fix might be.

I have attached a link for you. It appears that a MAP sensor may need to be checked/replaced OR the wiring to it may need to be checked VERY CLOSELY. There is a harness routed around the top rear of your engine that may have a shorted or defective wire in it. I would remove the Vortec cover and sort'a firmly pull forward on that harness asssembly and then drive the drive with the Vortec cover OFF of the engine for several days to see if the issue goes away. If so, then you have a harness issue with the wiring to either the Mass Air Flow Sensor or the MAP sensor. (I also had problems with that harness wiring short-circuiting to the transmission dip stick filler tube causing all kinds of OBDII error codes also.) Hope this helps. Did you ever find the fix. You’re the only one I’ve found with the same problem as me. Stabilitrak and p0106

Whenever my truck ran erratically for any reason that "stabilitrak disabled" light would illuminate on the dash. It did that whenever sever vibration is sensed, without any relation to the actual failure source. Several others have noted this also on their trucks.
