Brake system

Asked by SgtSqueak Jan 23, 2019 at 01:25 PM about the 2010 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was just returning home from an appointment when I pressed on the brakes
was getting good pressure on the pedal but the truck wasn't slowing down. I
pushed harder and the brakes worked like they are supposed to but the
brake light on the dash came on and the information center said to check the
brake system. I shut the truck down waited a minute and restarted it and the
light was off.

Would start with a look at each wheel for the condition of the pads, calipers, and brake lines. Have the system scanned for pending codes. At this point it could be anything from damaged hardware, pinched brake line (s), air in the system, ABS modulator or master cylinder. Usually issues like this get progressively worse and happen unexpectedly at the worst times. Hopefully it's not one of the last two items but this needs some diagnostic work sooner than later. Good Luck!
