Headlights switch won't turn lights off

Asked by Guru5J349 Feb 14, 2018 at 07:48 AM about the 2010 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2010 F-150 headlights stay on whenever the truck is on. It doesn't matter what position the headlight switch is in. They do go out when the truck is off. Is it a bad headlight switch?

I don't think it's the DRLs. If I turn the switch to Off, they don't go out.

On my 2010 F 150 my headlights stay on for about 20 or so seconds after I turn off the engine at night.

If you have an auto light sensor on the dash, near the windshield, in the center, locate the fuse which controls it and unplug it. Sometimes they will reset if power to it is interrupted.

That's the way the truck operates. As soon as it starts up, all lights come on....that's a good thing. After you park and shut off engine the lights stay on so you can exit the truck and see your way to house, then shut off. I love that courteous feature.
