Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Installed cold air tube kit on focus. Its the 150,000 mile non
serviceable filter. Man nothing but problem I can't figure
out. Threw 2 codes on startup. Maf and 02. Replaced maf
and I mean it didn't change 0. With the codes it bucks on
acceleration like a mad bull seeing red. No joke. Idles fine. I
pulled the plug on maf and it stopped. What if can help
does that mean. Im stumped. Help greatly appreciated

What are the two codes you are getting? Just because the MAF and O2's are detecting a problem, doesn't mean they need replacing. Those two codes would be come up if any air metering is amiss between the MAF and the engine. Check to see if all your electrical connections and or vacuum hoses are hooked up properly. Does the new CA tube kit have the same connectors as your stock setup? If not, that is your issue. Also what kind of filter does this kit have? if it has an oiled filter, it could be over oiled and that oil is getting on the MAF elements, cleaning the MAF with CRC MAF cleaner would help for a short time until it got dirty again. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for response. It is a cheap filter. Spectre. The car runs very strong with maf unplugged but I know I cant keep driving like that lean or rich. Do I need to get a tuner? Man it runs like never before seriously. I thought the car was just weak but it really has made a difference for that 15 year filter its had on

oh the codes are cant remember number but they are read defined o2 sensor and maf sensor. I'll get the numbers tomorrow. Ecm is coming up too but not on same obviously. Ghanks
