No tail lights, license plate lights, and dash lights

Asked by dmeton Sep 01, 2023 at 07:51 PM about the 2005 Ford Focus ZX3 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2005 focus has no tail lights, license plate lights or dash lights.  I changed
fuses #57 and #58.  It was blowing #58 a while back and a mechanic put a 10
amp fuse in to replace the 7.5 amp.  Now the fuse isn't blown but the lights
don't work.

You should get a different mechanic , You don't put a higher rated fuse in to fix a problem . You have a short somewhere and a multi tester should be used to find the problem . Look for any obvious wiring problems

Check the harness between the car and the rear hatch for damaged, broken or bare wires causing shorts, and strange electrical events throughout the car. I've had this problem with both hatchbacks and wagons 2000-2004.

What kind of fool would do that? I think these have a small light module in the rear lamp assemblies so those and the connections need to be checked and cleaned if corroded, if too bad they my need replaced.
