Starting

Asked by GasBoyd Jan 23, 2020 at 09:35 AM about the 2010 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife's 2010 Ford Focus doesn't always start the first time we turn the key, if you turn the key off and try again after a few attempts it starts but she is getting tired of it. Is there something I can do to correct this? My email is augustboyd@sbcglobal.net.

I should have explained better, the car does nothing at all when the key is turned, it does not turn over or anything. I don't think this would be a fuel pump problem, what do you think?

I have the exact same issue - it started about a year ago. My first thought, because I have a standard, was that perhaps, since one has to engage the clutch to start the car, was that I needed a clutch adjustment... either that or it was as suggested and ignition switch issue. Since I don't have the money to get it diagnosed and fixed, I'll live with it. lol
