interchangable parts for 2010 chevy cobalt 2.2L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need to find out if older year chevy cobalt will interchange with my 2010 Chevy cobalt 2.2L. I hit the divider in a construction with no street lights or warning lights and by looking at it, it appears that all the damage was a big hold in the old pan but it bent the trans oil pan and all the fluids leaked out on the street. I'm going to a pull a part and look to see if I can find before I put on new ones just in case there is damage to trans/undercarriage you can't see. will take off old ones and take with me to compare. I found a place in North Atlanta that inventory shows a few 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. I'll go check them out and pull myself. I'm a 60 y/o disabled female with severe brain issues, tumors, angiomas and an aneurysm but I am able to get under there and pull and put back on my parts. just want to make sure that is all the damage before I put on new parts in case there is damage I can't see until I replace those pans. If any one out there could please help me if you know that the other year cars will interchange with the 2010 I would be forever grateful. Thanks so much to all. Thank you. Jeanette

Can't say for sure, but I see no reason why they won't fit. The same 2.2 was used on all Cobalts except for the supercharged and turbocharged SS cars which use the 2.0. Even the parts from these engines likely fit, but don't push your luck. You could look up the part numbers for your car and the other years. If the part number is the same they will fit. If it's different they likely won't. Do you not have collision insurance on your car? If you do you can pay your deductible and have a shop do all this. Good luck. You're a very ambitious lady.

Thank you so much munron! Never thought about checking part numbers. May save me some "pulling" time. No collision. This spot I went thru had no street lights, no safety lights to show construction there, did have the big barrel cones but not in front of that darned divider. Thanks again for your answer. Going to pull those parts and get online and check p/n of the other models a well. And thank you. When you have no choice, you do it yourself!LOL Take care. I'm so glad I found this site!!
