Need to change the battery on 2009 BMW X5. Will I have a computer issue when I reconnect?
Highly possible. Get one of these and hook it into an on all the time power port, then you can replace the battery without loosing any computer presets. Just make sure the port is powered all the time and follow the directions.
You also have to have it programmed to the car for proper charging. It's a BMW thing called Battery registration. A local independent BMW shop can do it for you or the dealer?
I suggest a OBD2 battery saver that you connect to another car or to a jump starter. Maybe $20.
