Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2009 chevy malibu with 103,000 miles on it . I had a new key made for it
about a month ago because i thought i lost the original key. after a few days it
started getting difficult for me to shut the car off. well the other day i plugged a
power inverter in and the thing just kept beeping, so i unplugged it. we pull up
at the post office to go in, and when we come back out to leave the car wont
start. my boyfriend checked the battery, the terminals, the connection. we
have replace the battery terminals and now the starter. when you turn the key
on all the lights come on like normal, but as soon as you turn the key to try to
start the engine, it's like it goes dead. all the lights go off. and when you turn
the key it is displaying power steering, service esc, service traction, esc off,
and service air bag. my abs light and my check engine light are on too. please
help!!!!

Definitely sounds like a problem with the battery or the battery cables. Check the battery cable connections at both ends and make sure everything is clean and tight. Have the battery load tested. On many newer vehicles if the battery is below a certain level the computer will not allow the engine to crank. Hope that helps! Jim

I would also scan for the trouble codes, since the CEL is on.
