how do i set door locks to automatically lock when car starts?

Look in your owners manual to make sure your vehicle even has that function and how to activate. Most times it's part of the vehicles programming. I also doubt a 2008 Kia will have it. Most vehicles that have that function, the doors lock after you put the car in gear and start moving.
You have a button right there on your arm rest that locks the whole car. Train yourself to use it.
You can also lock the windows. I had to do this because my Dog knew how to put the windows down. and would go back and forth playing with them.
