2008 Ram 1500 3.7L popped bank1 too lean and now won't fire up?

Asked by JP Jan 26, 2018 at 10:02 AM about the 2008 Dodge RAM 1500 ST RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving less than 30MPH yesterday, mid-acceleration the truck lost all
power input, coughed a couple times from me holding down the accelerator,
then ultimately died. It wasn't sudden but it also wasn't a controlled kill. I
scanned the Ram immediately to find a bank 1 too lean light had popped
wtih 2 entries on the scanner. I cleared the code, unplugged all O2 sensors,
popped the intake basket off(the intake valve isn't stuck open), checked
fuses, MAP sensor connector is fine, Air intake temp sensor connector is
fine. Reconnected and now the truck does everything BUT fire up. It turns
over, the dash responds to the start sequence, and it cranks and cranks and
cranks. A fuel pump for my truck is a few hundred bucks so I'm looking for
anyone that can 2nd opinion this and my belief that it's the damn fuel pump-
given the way it sputtered dead on the road and how it attempts to start now.
If not the fuel pump, WHAT other components within that system would
PREVENT the truck from actually firing up? THANK YOU GUYS!

Do you hear the pump when you turn the key to run? do you have fuel in the rail? Did you check fuel pressure? Did you check pump fuse and relay? if not you probably need a pump.
