Transmission malfunction

I have 2008 ford focus zetec tdci diesel
automatic that when the car is on full stop,
the transmission malfunction light goes on.  
When i turned off the engine & start again,
the transmission malfunction is gone. But
when im in full stop, the same happened with
the transmission malfunction light goes on
again. What could be the problem? The car is
running well even though the transmission
malfunction indicator is on.

Similar symptoms from 1.6L petrol auto transmission, but in my case warning message displayed on on cold start. Switch off and on and usually problem goes away, thereafter runs fine.
