Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I smell eggs when I am driving my car. I used to get 427 miles to empty when I fill up now I get 350. It sometimes has a slight jerk when driving. My check engine light came on so I got an oil change and a day later it went off. What kind of home remedies can I do instead of replacing the catalytic converter?

Home remedies? The reason you smell sulfur, (rotten egg smell), if the fuel isn't being burned properly in the engine and goes into your cats burning in there. Take care of your misfire issue before the cats become clogged. The check engine light was on for a reason, there is a misfire or vacuum leak or both. Have your car checked out, and or scanned for the codes.

how many miles maybe time for a tune up... Miss fire is the key fix it and it will most likely fix your smell...
