Not a smart buy, it will turn into a money pit quick. Always, always, ALWAYS buy only low mileage cars.

KenF, that was a dumb response and nobody should take that advice! The dependability of any car depends on how well it has been maintained. There are MANY 200-300k miles cars that are more dependable/trustworthy than 50k miles cars. If the oil has been changed regularly (synthetic is always a big plus), it has been driven sensibly, and parts that wear from normal driving have been serviced or replaced as needed...it is likely a very dependable vehicle! I drive a vehicle that most people say is "junk" but I have near 300,000 miles on it. It doesn't use any oil, it still gets better mpg than factory rating, and it has every bit of power it had when it was new. It is all in how the car has been cared for...PERIOD.

I forgot where I was posting.. lol. My vehicle is a 2010 HHR 2.2L LT. As I said, it has close to 300k miles and I take it on a weekly 300 miles trip across the state. I never have a problem! Full disclosure... I have had a flat tire (can happen to any vehicle). I had a battery go bad (also can happen to any vehicle). The only problem specific to this vehicle has been a recurring check engine code due to a small vacuum leak. This has never prevented the vehicle from starting, nor has it affected the performance or fuel consumption at all. It is a $41 intake gasket that is pretty easy to change. Not too much to complain about if you ask me.

I have an 07 HHR 2.4 ltr. Just replaced the upstream sensor and alt. Now my machanic is thinking it's the timing belt, but I have no leaks always changing my oil and all. Oh car has 200k miles on it.
