Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had head gaskets/ engine done. Now the transmission is gone and I need
struts. It's only got 129000 miles...but some of those miles were hard.
Is it worth fixing?

Price out the repairs and compare that to the cars worth. I would say it is marginal at best.

Really depends on how you feel about making car payments.....let me tell you, it's almost always less expensive to fix your car than purchase a new one.... Remember how much you have to pay in sales tax.....and financing. Don't worry about what someone else thinks your car's value is....it has value to you and its all about the service it has...… If the body is all banged up and the interior is trashed...yeah, get rid of it. You've already done the head gaskets...get an evaluation of the compression and decide from there. As far as I'm concerned....shocks, tires, brakes, batteries, and even the timing belt are all maintenance issues.....yeah, the transmission and the head gaskets are definitely repairs..... Think how much a late model car like a lease return could cost you.....$25,000 ?? Cars have gone through the roof in costs.....a brand new Subaru Outback runs close to $35,000 up to $45,000..... Figure out the total cost and divide that into 12 months and see what it looks like....most new cars even late model ones quite possibly are $350-400 per month for 48 to 60 months and your insurance, registration and fees go up as well. It's a lot to consider.
