Why my car won't revl past 2500 RPMs

My car is idling at 1200 and it won't rev past
2500 rpm

First thing to look for is a vacuum leak. That will cause the high idle. Also, unplug the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve for testing purposes. The check engine light will come on, ignore it. If you now have a very low idle the problem is with the IAC or the wiring going to it. Hope that helps! Jim
