Can I drive with oil sending unit out?

My oil sending unit is out on my truck
can I drive it short distance or will it
cause motor to blow?

NO!! I'm assuming that you've removed it from the engine. That being said you'll have oil everywhere in the engine compartment!! Not only will you damage the engine you'll be creating a fire hazard as well!! HTH. -Jim

By meaning "out" can I guess your saying it is not functioning? Or have your removed it and now there is an open hole on the top of the reap part of your engine? If it is not working, you have oil (full) in the engine, it is fine to run it. I'd have it replaced or do it yourself or a friend as soon as possible. It will take a 1 1/16 deep socket to remove it. Cost of the sending unit will range for $19.00 to $35.00 depending on where and the quality of you purchase. I'd put a GM replacement part in if it were me. Any more help in changing it, just answer back and I'll try to work you through it
