I have a 2005 Ford escape. I can reverse out of the driveway with no problem and put it on drive with no problem. But once the car warms up the car will no longer go on reverse. I can move it to reverse but the transmission will not engage once the car cool down then it's fine to go on reverse

You don't mention the amount of miles on the auto so based on age, I would say start saving to have the transmission replaced. A transmission fluid and filter change is just going to "Band-Aid" the issue and not fix it.

I would say it is going to need a transmission. The hotter they get is when they show the problems.
