Wikipedia has a good article on the various engines used in the Cobalt. In the earlier years they used a 2.2 in the sedans and the SS. The supercharged SS, often referred to as she SS/SC has the 2.0. In later years the 2.4 was introduced and I believe came int non turbocharged versions as well a turbocharged in the SS. I'm not sure how to tell them apart, but if the engine is still in a car I believe the dealer can tell you from the VIN.
