My H3, 2006 has a different starting problem.

Asked by landmanjd Jun 10, 2016 at 10:05 PM about the 2006 Hummer H3 4dr SUV 4WD

Question type: General

Sometimes when I try to start it, the ignition switch seems to stay engaged
even if I turn the key to off. It acts like it isn't getting fuel. If I take a hammer
and tap on the fuel tank, it will start right up. My mechanic told me to try this
and it worked. I guess I don't understand why when I tap it that it starts right
up. Please advise.

Fuel pump beginning to fail or wiring harness to fuel pump loose bad connections.

I put a new AC Delco Fuel Pump in it and after 3 days, the problem still persists. What now?

Ok, before condemning the fuel pump circuit, Have it read for codes, even if the check engine light is NOT on the computer will have stored information and codes. Discount auto stores will read codes for no fee. write them down.

I know this may sound crazy but open your rear door and look down to see if the wires coming thru the body have been chafed. They may be cut all the way thru.
