when should the transmission fluid and filter be changed on a 2002 x type if at all

I just bought a 2002 jag x type 3.0 with 145,000 and  wondered when the fluid and filter should be changed if at all?

Rule of thumb used to be 30K, newer cars might need it change less frequent, like 60-80K, but your way overdue. Some will say it's not worth it at your mileage and your asking for more trouble. Do you plan on keeping the car a long time? You might think of doing a drain and fill vs a flash.

therefore bc i just purchased the car and dont know the maintenance history althought it seems to have been taken care of from the exterior and interior, changing the tranny fluid would be the best action?? will. do thank you!

Drain and fill with the correct trans fluid a new filter can't hurt.
