if the service light is coming on it has to store a code your car is obd2 it has no choice ,ask them what code it is storing and what it means and go from there. it will be a good starting point.

Is it the service light or the check engine light. Some higher end cars like jags are equipped with service now warnings so that you'll take it to the dealership and pay $100 to get your oil changed. If it is the check engine light, follow the above advise and go to an autoparts store and ask to have your car scanned for trouble codes. Autozone is good about this, if you have one locally.
